Gut health and proper break down of food sources is essential for overall health and reaching your goals!

What does Betaine Hydrochloric Acid and Pepsin do?

HCI secretion in the stomach does several positive things. It assists protein digestion by activating pepsinogen to pepsin, it renders the stomach sterile against ingested pathogens, it inhibits undesirable overgrowth in the small intestine, and it encourages the flow of bile and pancreatic enzymes.* Hydrochloric acid also facilitates the absorption of a number of nutrients, including folate, vitamin B12, ascorbic acid, beta-carotene, iron, and some forms of calcium, magnesium, and zinc.*

Why do we have low HCL content in the stomach?

  • Illness

  • No Gall Bladder

  • Overuse of antacids

  • Normal with aging

What are some of the common issues that can occur from Low Hydrochloric Acid (HCl) ?

  • Maldigestion leading to deficiencies in key vitamins and minerals specifically fat-soluble vitamins like vitamin A, D, E and K.

  • Food allergies can be developed due to improper digestion of proteins that are then absorbed through a leaky gut causing an immune response.

  • Indigestion, bloating, gas and other forms of gastrointestinal discomfort

Understand that indigestion affects millions of individuals every day. The cases for each individual vary between eating fatty foods, processing simple carbohydrates (like bread and pasta) or spicy foods which cause discomfort. Although what we eat greatly influences the frequency and severity of indigestion, this discomfort could also be related to an underlying problem – low hydrochloric acid (HCl) content in the stomach.

To ensure optimal digestion, an individual should make sure to have adequate HCl content in the stomach.*
